The public transport connections between Italy and Slovenia are not good.

Trieste = Trst\\
Venezia = Venice = Benetke\\
Gorizia = Gorica

The simplest (and expensive) way is to use taxi.

There are some companies (GoOpti, Turanus, ) providing shuttle transfer to the Italian airports.

It seems that the direct trains Ljubljana-Venice are not operating any more. The routes with at least one change are going trough Villach (in Austria).

The cheap routes combining buses and trains are the following:

Airport -bus/train- Trieste -bus- Ljubljana\\
Airport -bus/train- Trieste -bus/taxi- Koper/Capodistria -bus/train- Ljubljana\\
Airport -bus/train- Gorizia -foot/taxi- Nova Gorica -bus- Ljubljana\\
Airport -bus/train- Villach -train- Ljubljana

Weekdays and weekends have very different schedules.  Many buses do not run at all on Sundays.

When you arrive at Ronchi airport, you will need to take a bus to Trieste.  As you leave the baggage claim area, enter the corridor of the airport (it's a tiny airport) and turn left.  On your left you will see a counter where you can buy a bus ticket. You will want Bus #51, and it leaves the airport about every 30 minutes from 6 AM to 11:30 PM on weekdays, less often on weekends.

Bus via Nova Gorica/Gorizia (the bus from Ljubljana arrives at the Slovenian side and the bus to the airport leaves from the Italian side of the town). Ljubljana dp 8.35 - Nova Gorica ar 11.07 (daily except Sunday), taxi from Nova Gorica bus station to Gorizia bus station, Gorizia dp 12.30 - Trieste airport ar 13.00 (daily except Sunday, bus 1  or 26).


**Trieste**: The central bus station in Trieste is immediately next door to the train station.  However, depending on the time of day you arrive, you may prefer to take a bus to Ljubljana rather than a train. The train would require you to change at Udine and again at Villach. Or you could take a bus to Koper, and then a train or bus to Ljubljana - they are more frequent.
