Notes from January 2009 meeting

– Chapter 2

1. - Insert a section on the blockmodeling citation literature (new Section 2.2).
2. - Move SNA to a new Section 2.3.
3. - Insert a new section on the scientific citation literature for Slovenia (new Section 2.4).
4. - Drop the old Section 2.4 (on the sociological literature).
5. - Move data structures to a new Section 2.5.
6. - Either expand the new section on data structures to include materials on homophily, attributes and network structure and evolution or create a new chapter on this subject.

– Nuša

1. - Chapter 2
   1. - Working on the Slovene scientific scientific collaboration networks in the completion of the proposal, conceptualizing the material for the book and assembling data (from COBISS, Web of Science, etc.).
2. - Chapter 6
   1. - Working with Vlado on preparing the manuscript on network clustering with relational constraints as described in the proposal.
3. - Chapter 7
   1. - Providing inputs to Nataša for the design of evolution of blockmodel structures of networks.

– Nataša

1. - Chapter 3
   1. - Preparing manuscript(s) based on analyses of the patent data (by March).
2. - Chapter 4
   1. - Merging the ‘corrected dates’ file with the already extracted data of player stays.
   2. - Extracting player narratives from the wikipedia descriptions into a file for subsequent extraction of player attribute data.
   3. - Generating the final moves of players file when the stays file has been completed.
3. - Chapter 7
   1. - Taking the lead in designing simulations for network evolution with input from Vlado and Nuša.

– Pat

1. - Extensive background reading for multiple chapters.
2. - Chapter 2
   1. - Writing of chapter based on the analysis of the centrality literature, blockmodel literature and social network analysis literature.
3. - Chapter 3
   1. - Polishing chapter based on drafts from Nataša and Vlado
4. - Chapter 4
   1. - Further data collection for foreign players in the current data base, and also additional changes once the current transfer window closes. (No further players to be added.)
5. - Chapter 5
   1. - Locate additional data sources for supplementary information on Supreme Court cases.
6. - Chapter 6
   1. - Locate temporal data on voting behavior for the USA and distil information from ‘The Clustering of America’ and the recent literature on the spatial segregation of population into spatially homogeneous groups.

– Vlado

1. - Chapter 2
   1. - Further data collection on the citation literature on blockmodeling and also the broader literature on clustering networks.
   2. - Finalize the full SNA citation literature network.
   3. - Data analyses for the literature citation networks.
2. - Chapter 3
   1. - Preparing manuscript(s) manuscript(s) based on analyses of the patent data.
3. - Chapter 5
   1. - Moving the Fowler data set into Pajek compatible form.
   2. - Collecting supplementary data and designing the software for extracting supplementary data and coupling it the citation network for Supreme Court cases.
4. - Chapter 6
   1. - Write the foundational chapter materials.
5. - Chapter 7
   1. - Provide input to Nataša for the design of simulations.
6. - Additional material on ‘Homophily, Attributes and network structure and evolution’
   1. - Outline the content of the chapter.
   2. - Complete the data collection and write initial paper (by March).
